As we know, when we all felt into silence in class, Jo always says, 「I can not actually teach you how to speak, you have to learn it by yourself.」  It is so true.  We take the oral training class, but we are not just sitting there listening, smiling at the teacher with no expressions on our faces.  If we want to learn something, we must urge ourselves to do the practice.  As the saying goes, 「Practice makes perfect.」  I know that no one is born to be an eloquent speaker, no matter in English or native language.  All I have to do is try my best when I get any chance.  In addition to speaking skills, I also learned that I have to spur myself on in continuous improvement.  Every time the class is dismissed, I feel a little upset because I really lack self-training; I know I still have a lot to learn.  Once I read a piece of news from our department website about a chance to recite Abraham Lincoln』s Gettysburg Speech in a speech contest.  Though in the end I did not get the chance to join the competition, I still felt satisfied because at least I tried.  It took great courage on my part.  I also became aware of my problematic areas as well as my strengths and merits.  Besides, now I would pay more attention to the words I use while speaking.  Are they appropriate?  Are they suitable for the situation?  The most important thing is, Jo reminds us that this world is strongly competitive; we have to sharpen our own professional abilities and develop them in order not to be surpassed or replaced by others.  Thanks for your listening.
