辭彙操作特質：
中文辭彙：沒有形態變化，主要靠詞語、順序以及內在的邏輯關係來表達句子的含意
英文辭彙：形態變化豐富（例如名詞有number和case的變化，動詞有人稱、時態、語態、語氣，形容詞和副詞都有級的變化，還可以結合為複合字）
因此，英譯中，多半要加詞或變換說法來體現英語中的形態變化。
He
realizes that he is not as healthy as he used to be.
他意識到自己現在已經不如過去那麼健康了。
中譯英則要善用英文的各種形態變化來體現漢語的時態、語態、語氣
他本來要去的，最後一秒鐘又改變了主意。

表示時間順序或因果：
英文的複合句中，表示時間的語詞可以放前或放後，時間關係的順序比較多變；中文的複合句則通常按時間的先後來敘述

the South.

敘事和推理的順序：
英文往往先說最近的事再說先前發生的事，中文剛好相反。
英文往往先總結然後再加以闡述，中文則常常先交代然後才總結。
