sample--letter of request-delay interview

Dear Mr. Potter

I am most excited to receive your letter of December 12, 2004 informing me of the upcoming interview on December 17 in connection with my application for the position of Project Coordinator.

However, I am writing to inquire if there is any possibility of rescheduling the date for the interview. I am very much interested in this position, yet unfortunately, I have a professional certification exam scheduled for the same day. This exam is held only twice a year, and I would have to wait until next June if I miss this one.

I apologize for any inconvenience that the rescheduling might cause you, but I ask for your understanding and assistance in making another appointment for our meeting. Thank you very much.

Respectfully

Emi

sample-letter of request-authorship

Dear Sir Dario Fo:

The Senior Play of the English department of National Central University, an annual non-profit student play performed by the graduating class, is writing to ask your permission to perform your play titled 「We Won』t Pay! We Won』t Pay!」 in a twin performance scheduled for next March 9th and 10th, 2005.

We students had been looking over numerous plays since this July, and after two months』 effort and discussions, we found your play most interesting and inspiring for this generation of young people. In all eagerness and excitement, we had been working continuously for nearly three months, including special acting training instructed by one famous theatre actor. We are also hopeful that other experts from famous institutions such as NYU would be able to help us on various aspects, such as acting, directing , lighting, and stage design…etc., of this upcoming performance Above all, we have spontaneously made the unprecedented attempt to combine the stage play with one short film on supermarket robbery.

We all believe that your play will be a great challenge and accomplishment for our Senior Play, and together our efforts would ensure that every audience enjoys the performance from the beginning to the end. If you would grant us the right for this one-time performance, please sign the consent form below and fax us back at 886-3-4263027. Thank you very much.
Sincerely,

Adia Chen
Coordinator

sample-letter of request-delay admissioin

To Whom It May Concern,

I』m writing to inquire about the possibility of postponing my admission for one year. On March 22, 2005 I received the admissions letter from your graduate committee for the Communication Program with a concentration in Cultural Studies. As thrilled as I am about the opportunity to study with your distinguished faculty, I have to request a delay in my admissions until the fall of 2006.

The truth of the matter is that right before the arrival of your admissions letter, I had already been offered the position of administrative assistant by the Center for Cultural Studies at National Ching-ren University, one of the most prominent Cultural Studies research centers in Taiwan. It is a great opportunity and a huge challenge to be able to work in such a distinguished institution with the top researchers in Taiwan. I believe it will not only broaden my understanding of Cultural Studies but also enable me to acquire pragmatic methodologies in conducting my own Cultural Studies research in Taiwan.

It is after much careful consideration that I decided to accept the position at the Center for Cultural Studies. I am confident that my intellectual maturity will be greatly enhanced by this work experience, which promises to prepare me better for my entry to your Communication Program one year later. I apologize for the inconvenience but I do hope that you will consider the possibility in deferring my admission. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Yu-Shi Hong
