Learning to Learn

What are your study habits?  How did they evolve?

What was your experience about how you learn?

  • Did you like to read? solve problems? memorize? recite? interpret? speak to groups?
  • Did you know how to summarize? how to get to the mainpoint?
  • Did you ask questions about what you studied?
  • Did you usually review your lessons?
  • Did you have access to information from a variety of sources?
  • Did you like quiet time alone for studying or do you prefer study groups?
  • When you study, do you like to have music playing? What kind of music?
  • Did you prefer shorter sessions of study or can you sit for a long time?
  • Do you need a longer period of time in order to focus on your studies?
  • As you study, do you ask yourself whether you understand? If you don't understand, do you ask why and try to find answers? Should you go more quickly or more slowly?
  • Do you stop and summarize? Do you stop and ask whether it's logical? Do you stop and evaluate (agree/disagree)?
  • How did you communicate what you learned best? Through a written test, a term paper, a speech, a discussion, an interview, a performance?
