Ari Larissa Heinrich received the Master's degree in Chinese Literature from Harvard University in 1995, and the Ph.D. in Chinese Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2002. He has received fellowships, research support, and publication subsidies from the Australian Research Council, the Fulbright-Hays Program, the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation, the Association for Asian Studies, and others. His research interests include literary and cultural figurings of science and medicine; cultural notions of authenticity, copyright, replication, and reproduction; the use of visual culture in literary studies; science fiction and utopian imaginings; and global queer cultures. He is currently working on a manuscript tentatively titled Imitation of Death: Necromimesis and the Chinese Body as Surplus in Global Imaginaries.
