桃園市中心 Downtown Taoyuan City
Good afternoon! Ladies and gentlemen! My hometown—Taoyuan City—is only 10 minutes away by train and is your best choice for shopping. There are three well-known department stores in the downtown area. They form a triangle in the center of the city, which makes it very convenient for shoppers especially during anniversary sales. The Mitsukoshi department store, in particular, provides many benches on the 7th floor where shoppers could rest in front of huge windows to enjoy the view of the city. I myself like to go there and chat with my friends until it’s closing time.
But if you want a really good view of the city, there is a Hu-tou Mountain Park (虎頭山公園) 20 minutes away, from which you can watch the night view of the city. When I was a senior high student, my school was quite close to the park, so I would often climb to the top with my classmates to relieve all our pressure from the college entrance exam.
The city also offers many famous authentic Chinese snacks, such as Mixed Vegetable Roll (潤餅), Dumplings (霸餃), and Chinese Fried Buns(生煎包). Multinational fast foods such as KFC, McDonald’s, and Mister Donut are always available. Though quite small in size, Taoyuan city is still quite delightful.
