What makes a person a
so-called good girl or a bad girl? Many people often say that girls who
have open minds and girls who do things in an open way are bad girls.
People like to see sexy girls in pretty dresses and wearing make-up, but
when it comes to girls close to them, such as their girlfriends,
daughters, etc., it isn』t the same at all. From my point of view, this
is obviously a double standard.
Living in a pluralistic society nowadays, many
girls are confused because they don』t know what is the 「right」 way to
express themselves and make others like them. Actually, I don』t think
we girls should force ourselves to show people what 「they」 want us to be
like. If we always try to pretend to be someone else in order to make
others accept us, we will never be able to control our lives and we most
certainly will feel miserable trying to fit in with other peoples』
expectations.
Take the girl Deanie in the movie 「Splendor in
the Grass」 for example, she tried to change her image and appearance
because this was the only way she thought she would be able to win back
Bud』s love for her. However, things didn』t work out the way she planned
and she went crazy. This was something that no one would have ever
expected to see but it still happened because she gave herself so much
pressure in order to pretend to be someone that she wasn』t.
God created people and he made us all
different in some way. Thus, we should face the fact that we are who we
are and we needn』t change ourselves to satisfy others』 desires. Girls
are not beautiful because others say so, but because they show their
true selves towards others. They also become beautiful because they
respect themselves and they have confidence in themselves.
We often hear girls complaining about the bad
situation of having to force ourselves to pretend to be someone else so
that others will praise us. But the key to changing this problem is in
our hands. We must make changes starting from now: we must always bear
in mind that being 「true」 is the best and only way to express ourselves
and also to make us feel happy as well.
