Love often drives people totally insane. It
even makes you hysterical at times. There are many purposes and
obligations to fulfill in life, starting from school to career to love,
but love will always be the most mysterious one of all. If you get bad
grades, it』s clearly marked on the paper for the eye to see, and if you
get fired, it simply means you』re not doing well enough. But from
centuries before and centuries to come, love has been and will continue
to be without a correct answer.
Everyone must
fall in love deeply at least once in a lifetime to really understand
this mysterious part of life that can』t be taught but learned only
through experience. In the movie 「Splendor in the Grass」, two teenagers
Deanie and Bud fall madly in love, only to be separated due to the
pressure brought forth by their families and society. In the 1920』s,
love and sex were not to be publicly discussed, it would be considered
inappropriate. Nowadays, relationships seem to be more widely accepted,
as opposed to gay and lesbian relationships being looked upon more
acceptably. We must keep up with the pace of the growing society. Love
and sex may have different meanings at different times. We cannot
always use the same method on the children now that the previous
generation had used and expect the same results.
One good example
is the school education. Time has changed, but has the education given
to our children in school changed enough for us to honestly say that we
have kept up with the fast growing society? Frankly speaking, I think
not. The same goes for love. Tragedies or unhappy endings often come
after disagreements among families or narrow mindedness of our society.
From Romeo and Juliet to Titanic to Splendor in the Grass, we see these
fictional stories reflected among ourselves and the real world.
A little more
support and a little less negative lecture just might bring together a
very happy couple. After all, only the two people that are in love know
the true feeling of what it』s like to be together or apart.
