In the past, if you ask people
on the street how they think about one-night-stands or things like that,
you would probably see them blush, become speechless, or just run away,
covering their faces. Well, now you can kiss that crummy era goodbye.
Today you ask people things about sex, you』ll surely ooh and aah at
their surprising but straight-forward answers.
Thanks to globalization and the
Internet, the new generation is breaking away from the fogyish times.
Research shows that 90% of boys and 70% of girls in Taiwan had read
adult magazines or seen porno films. Here』s the fact--- Sex is no
longer taboo! People nowadays hold an open attitude toward sex and make
fun of the old ridiculous words: 「Walking hand in hand may get you
pregnant…」
People talk about sex at meals, in schools, offices, or supermarkets.
Turn on the TV and we can watch experts and common people discussing
sex; surf the Internet and we can enjoy cheerleader websites or other
porno sites. According to the research done by the Health Bureau in
year 2000,on the average, high school students had their first sex
experiences at around 16. One more interesting fact, there were 25% of
high school boys and 10% of high school girls willing to make love with
someone he or she 「liked,」 while five years ago there were only 18% boys
and 5% girls who would do that. Welcome to the 21st century.
The whole society is definitely
getting sexy, but ironically, another research shows that 41% of college
students care about the virginity of their lovers, which means the
liberation of sex concepts may not necessarily match the liberation of
physical acts. Strange as it may seem, the virginity complex had
shackled women for a long long time and women are still relegated to the
traditional role of 「virginity is everything,」 though doctors are
telling us that the hymen may be damaged when women engage in some
intense sports. Some women may even be born without the hymen. So,
wake up, guys! It』s the 21st century, the century of sex
awareness! Virginity is definitely not the only criterion by which to
judge a woman.
Sex is always profound and
controversial, and I believe it will trigger more and more debates. As
technology charges ahead, many things change. In order to welcome this
era, we』d better be willing to accept new things.
