Oral Presentationself-evaluation

羅婉亭

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present you with my self evaluation in this course.  Taking advantage of the fake voice is the most important thing I learned from my teacher.  A proper voice which suits the circumstances would enhance my performance, so now when I make speeches, I tend to slow down and lower my voice to convince the audience.  And to get the ultimate aim of being professional, I should keep learning more professional words instead of being content of colloquial words.

Also, I learned many speech-making skills from my classmates』 performance. For example, Mandy always wears a smile while she』s standing here.  As a member of the audience, I like her smile a lot, so I told myself, I, too, should present a big smile to the audience when I make speeches.  As a speechmaker, I understand the importance of being able to hold my audience』s attention, so when I am a member of the audience, I ask myself to pay attention and show the appreciation to the speakers.  Just like what Oliver does; he always listens to others carefully and expresses his appreciation by nodding his head, which gives the speaker a sense of comfort.

I remember in the beginning of this semester, I was determined to dedicate the following months to English-speaking.  Yet I often got too nervous when I speak English to express myself naturally.  Every time I finished presenting the weekly speech, I got depressed for I know I did not do it well.  Once I watched Xenia who delivered her speech with ease, and I thought 「Why should I be nervous?」  If I only worked to memorize every word, every sentence, I would be anxious about making mistakes.  To overcome my nervousness, I would practice many times until the speech is fluently delivered.  However, when I stand here, my heart is still pounding.  Apparently, there is still room for me to improve.

Failures depresses me, but it could not make me give up.  I won』t waste time blaming myself.  In contrast, I have learned from all my unsuccessful experiences to continue to practice rather than lashing out meaningless self-blame.

In conclusion, if I want to be confident on stage, I must do more practices and make much efforts.
