課程簡介：本課程是對英國社會理論家紀登斯（Anthony Giddens）的導讀，主要是介紹其晚近思想背景的哲學意含。

說明：紀登斯的社會理論饒富哲學性，從早年的結構化理論到近期的現代性研究，都顯示紀登斯的學術廣度。晚近由於紀登斯所出版的《第三道路》、《超越左與右》，以及其思想影響了諸如布萊爾、柯林頓等西方政客所倡導之政策，因而成為近年來全球最受矚目的學者，中國大陸與港台學界也積極翻譯其著作，並有多本問世。但是在這些較為現實的關懷背後，其實累積了紀登斯近30年的深厚思想結果。本課程將首先從其晚近較具現實關懷的著作出發，然後將大致地追溯並介紹紀登斯的社會理論，既探究其理論幽微之處，也思考紀登斯理論可以參照的本地脈絡。
