Working Papers in Gender/Sexuality Studies, a three-times-a-year non-profit publication of the Center for the Study of Sexualities at National Central University in Chungli, Taiwan is writing to ask your permission to publish in Chinese translation your essays by the titles of "The Whore Stigma" and "We Are not Repeating History" in our February and our first issue, 1998. 

The Center has been in close contact with and in full support of the nascent prostitute rights movement in Taiwan, which was sparked by Taipei Mayor's move to revoke the licenses of the remaining 128 middle-aged working-class legal prostitutes in the city last fall.  To strengthen the influence of our anti-obscenity-law discourse, we have been working hard to prepare relevant essays for the rights of sex workers.  In order to keep up with the momentum of the movement, two of our graduate students have already finished the translation of your essays, and we implore you to give us your permission to publish the essays. 

The mayor of Taipei has sent his final orders to the Executive branch of the government and as of September last year, the prostitutes have been out of work and fighting to regain their legal right to work.  We believe your essays will shed much light on the plight of prostitutes and together our efforts would ensure that women enjoy full autonomy of their bodies and their work.  If you agree, please sign the bottom and fax us back.  Thank you very much.
