台灣學界致馬來西亞政府的一封公開信

公開信內容

對於最近貴國副總理安華遭當局逮捕一事，台灣的一些民眾有以下幾點呼籲：

第一． 安華副總理的基本人權不應該被忽視，應當獲得合理的待遇與公平公開的審判。

第二． 同性性行為不應當被視為犯罪行為。這是世界潮流，我們希望貴國政府能儘速修改法律。

第三． 同性戀者作為一個少數族裔，其人權應當在馬來西亞社會得到保障。貴國對於同性戀族裔應當採取多元文化而非同化的政策。

貴國多年來一直致力於國家現代化，與更深入地參與國際合作事務，安華事件已經引起國際人民的注意與關心，並且影響到馬來西亞的國家形象。我們呼籲貴國政府能夠重視國際輿論，對上述三點呼籲做出適當的回應。

An Open Letter to Malaysian Government

From Taiwan Scholars and Students

The world has witnessed the Malaysian government taking great strides toward modernization and actively participating in international affairs.

The Anwar Ibrahim incident has now aroused the attention and concern of the international community, which may adversely impact upon the national image of Malaysia. We appeal to the Malaysian government to heed international opinion and make appropriate responses toward the below-mentioned requests.

• The basic human rights of Deputy Minister Anwar Ibrahim should not be violated; he should receive reasonable treatment and a fair and open trial.
• Homosexual acts should not be criminalized. Since decriminalization has now become a world trend, we hope the Malaysian government will adjust its laws as soon as possible.
• As a minority people, homosexuals should enjoy protection and respect in regard to their human rights. The Malaysian government should adopt a multicultural, instead of assimilation approach when it comes to policies related to homosexuals.
